The 1997 G-8 Conference in Denver!

Oh, the wonders of technology. We are now able to offer online, over the internet, face-to-face, audio and visual instruction! Moreover, your computer can be either a Mac or a PC.

Of course, you need a video camera. There are a variety available starting at about $30.00 and going up to as much as you care to spend. Although we find the instruction works well with low end cameras, please remember, the better your camera, the better we can see you.

You must have a cable or DSL connection. Sorry, but dial up connections just are not fast enough. This does not mean you have to be at your house. We have several students who drive to a different location to borrow a computer that has the faster connection. Some students even use the computer lab at a local grade school.

If you have a Mac, then the instruction is done through iChat AV. If you have a PC, you need to obtain AOL Instant Messenger 5.5 for Windows with all the updates. That does not mean you have to use AOL as your internet service provider, it just means you have to download the free AOL Instant Messanger and install it on your computer.

Mac's require operating system OS X v10.3 or later. PC's require WindowsXP and IE 5.0 or higher. For more details go to www.aim.com.

The entire process is much easier than it sounds. For more information, email us at:

During a lesson, I had an eight year old student try one of the prototypes. Her mother was sitting in the room reading a book. As soon as the student began using the Bow Genie, her mother looked up and said, "Wow! What is that thing! I don't care what it costs, I want one!"

Visit the Bow Genie website to see the invention created and patented by Chris Daring to teach her students a correct bow hold. The Bow Genie is now available to everyone.

The 1996 National Adult Fiddling Champion, Chris Daring, and her son Noel, offer the finest in Texas Style Fiddling instruction and performance.

Chris has been twice designated as a Master Artist in fiddling by The Colorado Council on the Arts and The National Endowment for the Arts. She has taught fiddling as an adjunct faculty member for the University of Southern Colorado, the University of Colorado at Denver.

Her primary teachers are members of the Texas Fiddlers Hall of Fame: Terry and Dale Morris. Terry, who passed away in 1988, was a Featured Star at the Grand Ole Opry in 1976; Dale is a former member of the Sons of the Pioneers.

Chris has 80 private fiddle students. One is the 1998 National Junior Champion and the 2000 Young Adult Champion, 26 have become Colorado State Fiddling Champions in their respective age groups, two have become Regional Champions, one has placed second in the Senior Division at the National Fiddling Championships, and more than twenty have placed in the upper 25% in the Junior Division at the National Fiddling Championships in Weiser, Idaho. An article about Chris and her family can be found at Westword Magazine's site. Fiddler Magazine featured her in their summer 2003 issue.

Over the years, Chris and her family have provided the music for the private dinner of eight world leaders and their wives at the 1997 Summit of the Eight Conference in Denver, Colorado and have performed at locations such as: the Royal Gorge, the 1998 Baseball All Star Game owners party, the New Mexico State Fair, the Museum of Natural History, The Festival of Mountain & Plain, and served as goodwill ambassadors and historical representatives for Central City, Colorado during the summer of 1995.

In 1988, Chris recorded an all instrumental album with the Nashville Superpickers: Dardanella. In 1992 she again went to Nashville; this time to do vocal recordings with some members of the Garth Brooks' studio band: Hottest Ex in Texas. She has also recorded an all acoustic album with her family: Crafton Blues. These links provide you with the entire song so they take a while to download. Be patient, it's worth it! Beginner, intermediate, and advanced sheet music (including sound files) for what will eventually become a large library of arrangements for fiddle tunes, as well as classical violin pieces and theory/agility studies is available by email. Links to those pages can be found below.
